Mary Taylor “Jo” Guy, 75, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 17, 2005 at Arp Baptist Church, Irwin County, with Rev. John Gibbs, Sr. and Rev. J.W. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Guy was born on February 11, 1930 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Edward E. “Ed” and Florence Arrowood Taylor. She lived in the community since 1963 from Knoxville, TN, where she was a 1948 graduate of Young High School and attended Knoxville Business College. Mrs. Guy was a former secretary at Oakridge Atomic Energy Plant in Oakridge, TN and was owner/operator of Guy Pecan Company in Irwinville for over thirty years. She was a member of Arp Baptist Church and a former member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sycamore, where she was the church pianist. Mrs. Guy was a member of Little People Of America.
Mrs. Guy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Rhonda G. & Frank Snipes of Irwinville; son and daughter-in-law: David & Laura Guy of Griffin; grandchildren: Casey Bess, Frankie Snipes, Kassidy Snipes, Lyle Guy, Ryan Guy and Ethan Guy; sister: Jessie Hickman of Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil David Guy, five brothers and two sisters.
