Obituary

WORCESTER-Dorothy A. Brosnihan, of 102 Greenwich Court, died on Thursday, September 15th at the Jewish Healthcare Center. Miss Brosnihan was born in Worcester. She was the daughter of Michael and Nora (Keane) Brosnahan. She leaves a twin sister, Helen P. Mahoney, and her husband Francis of Worcester. She leaves several nieces and nephews, including Mary P. Mahoney of Worcester; Helen A. Brunelle and her husband Jacques of Franklin; Catherine C. Kabala and her husband Stanley of Dudley; and Paul Brosnahan and his wife Margaret of Framingham. She also leaves a longtime family friend Michael N. Cariglia. She leaves many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Miss Brosnihan was predeceased by three sisters: Mary Small of Wilkinsonville and Agnes McManus and Catherine Brosnahan, both of Worcester. She was predeceased by her brothers: Thomas Brosnahan of Brooklyn, NY, and William Brosnahan, Joseph Brosnahan, and Gerald Brosnahan, all of Worcester.

Miss Brosnihan was employed by the New England Telephone Company. She held positions in Worcester, at the AT&T training headquarters in New York City, and in Boston. At the time of her retirement in 1976 she was a district manager in Boston. After her retirement she worked for many years as a volunteer at the Worcester Catholic Diocesan Communications Office.

Miss Brosnihan was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and a former member of the parish council. She was active in the Bishop’s Fund drive for the parish. She was also a member of the Guild of Our Lady Queen of Peace. Miss Brosnihan was a lifetime member of the Pioneer service organization and a member of the Association of Bell Tel Retirees Incorporated.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17th, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church. Calling hours will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, September 16th and from 9:30 until 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 17th, at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
