Beloved father of Carmen DeJesus and her husband Mariano of Chelsea and Cecilio Lopez, Jr. and his wife Loida of Everett. Dear and loving brother of Monserrate Lopez-Valentin of Meriden, Conn. and the late Virginia Degado and Victoria Torres. Cherished grandfather of Alina Lopez of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert P. Lopez and Jeremiah Lopez both of Everett and Jeremy DeJesus of Chelsea. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Friday morning, September 16 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Service in the Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Church, 27 Crescent Avenue, CHELSEA at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Francisco y Marta Caro, Pastores, officiating. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Born and raised in Arguadilla, Puerto Rico, Cecilio, 90 years of age, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett after suffering a heart attack at home.
Arriving in New York in 1948, he worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. After 21 years there he returned to Puerto Rico for the next 20 years, coming to Chelsea 4 years ago to be close to his family.
