PODOLSKI, William Andrew, Jr. passed away at his home in Dedham surrounded by his loving and devoted family on April 10, 2017 at the age 89. Husband of the late Anne C. (Plansky) Podolski. Loving father of Janet Soule of Weston, FL; William Podolski and his wife, Suzanne, Nancy Ambraziejus and her husband, Rimas, all of Easton; Mary Anne Podolski and John Lochiatto, David Podolski and the late Steven Podolski of Dedham. Cherished “Bumpa” of Caitlin, Christopher and Emily Soule; William and Jacquelyn Podolski; Annalea and Alex Ambraziejus; Jake and Megan Podolski. He was devoted to his family, faith, country and the town of Dedham. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s of Dedham. He enjoyed summers with his family on Herring Pond in Plymouth and found great joy in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Dedham. Graduated Dedham High School in 1946. He was a disabled veteran honorably discharged. He served in the Korean War, US Army 1950-1953 45th Division, wounded 3 times, combat infantry badge, two purple hearts and a Bronze Star. He loved serving the town of Dedham. He was a town meeting member 10 years; Future School Building Needs Committee member for 12 years (serving 8 years as chairman), School Committee 15 years (vice chair 1 year and chairman 3 years) and Finance Committee/Vice Chair for over 27 years. He worked 40 years for New England Telephone/NYNEX, the last 25 years as a Manager in the Security Department.
Bill was loved by all who knew him. He was an honest man of impeccable character and a true role model. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Tuesday, April 18 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Dedham at 11AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home Monday, April 17 from 4-8pm. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
