Rochester------Thomas "Tom" J. Adrignola, 97, formerly of Belmont, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 after a long battle with COPD. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was one of eleven born to Margaret (Maronese) and Giuseppe Adrignola in New York City on September 19, 1919.
Tom had a warm smile and personality that made everyone he met feel special. He was loved by all who knew him. His many friends and his family will miss him very much.
Tom proudly served in WWII in Europe from 1944 to 1946 where he earned a purple heart. He then worked in construction and educated himself to become a welder-mechanic, employed by a military airplane manufacturer. He moved his family from Queens NY to Centereach Long Island NY and eventually relocated to Meredith NH where he worked for local businesses and later, the town of Meredith’s Highway Dept. In retirement Tom worked as a maintenance man for Barton’s motel and then Meredith and Laconia Meals on Wheels until his late eighties.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret (Russo) Adrignola. He will be missed by his loving children; Joe and his wife, Vi of Laconia, Peggy Polo of Center Harbor, and Fran Cote and her husband, Don of Rochester, NH. Tom’s children had blended families but he considered them all as one family of loving members. Grandchildren, Denise (Adrignola) Sandberg and her husband, Peter and their children, Ryan, Colin and Devin of Concord NH; Thomas Adrignola of Manchester, NH and his children, Patrick and Kelly of Corning NY; Jim Adrignola and his partner, Christine Melton of Saratoga Springs NY; Melanie (Polo) Hodge and her children, Meghan and Daniel and her partner, Scott Ferrick of Sandwich, NH; John Polo and his son, Thomas of Center Harbor, NH; Aimee (Lawrence) Dion and her husband, Jerry and their children, Lance and Joshua of Dover NH; Kim (Cote) Koch and her husband, Sebastian and their children, Juliana, Emilia and Konrad of Amherst, NH ; Carrie (Stickney) Chandler and her husband, Howard and their son, Joshua of Laconia, and Howard’s children, Kelly, Makenzie and Trevor and their families; Jennifer (Stickney) Pollini and her husband, Mark and their children, Emma and Sophia of Derry, NH. Also his sisters, Emily of Lodi, New Jersey, Rosemarie of Sarasota, Florida and a brother ,Gabriel of Fairlawn, NJ. Also several nieces, nephews, great-great-grandchildren and countless friends.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00am at St Andre Bessette Parish-Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia, NH.
A private burial will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to the charity of one’s choice be made in his name.
