New Bedford-Augusto Lima Luzia aged 76 years, passed away September 10, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maria (Botelho) Luzia. He was the father of Adriana Lima Matos, and her husband John, of Mattapoisett, MA., Leonor Matos, and her husband Arturo, of New Bedford, MA., John B. Lima, and his wife Maria D., of New Bedford, MA., and Mary Jo Lima, of New Bedford, MA. He was the father of the late Augusto Lima. He was the brother of Humberto Lima, of Bristol, RI., Antonio Lima, of Terceira, Azores, and the late Manuel Luzia, Maria dos Anjos Costa, Jose Lima, and Herculano Lima. He also had 7 Grandchildren and several nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Luzia was born in Cabouco, Lagua, Sao Miguel, Azores,Portugal. He lived in this area since 1980. He was the Son of the late Joao Lima Luzia and Maria Merces (Costa) Luzia. Mr. Luzia was a custodian at Justin Clothing, until his retirement. Mr. Luzia loved gardening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Wednesday at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 P.M., on Monday at the Perry Funeral Home.
