Leo Poirier, age 73 of Andover went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2017. Leo was born in Biddeford, ME on September 12, 1943 to the late John and Fleurette (Poisson) Poirier. He was a very humble man who loved spending time with his family more than anything else. Leo was a proud United States Army Vietnam Era Veteran. He will be remembered as being a prankster, and his family was always the recipients of his pranks. Leo was an avid fan of NFL Football and the New England Patriots. He also loved fishing with his grandson. Leo was the former owner and operator of Poirier Construction of Andover. He also worked for Brinks Security for ten years.
Leo was the beloved husband of Sandy (Demuysere) Poirier of Andover with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Rhonda (Poirier) Bernard and her husband Todd of TN. Leo was the dear brother of Paul Poirier and his wife Jane, Dorothy Samson and her husband Dan, Claudette Gerry and her husband Bud and the brother in-law of Bill Griffith. He was the loving grandfather of Brendin Poirier. Leo was the cherished great grandfather of Gracelyn Paige, and Gabriele Valliere. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held after calling hours, beginning promptly at 7:00 PM. Pastor Dan Trepanier from Fellowship Bible Church of Methuen to officiate. Interment will be private.
