Doris A. (Besso) Bolton - In Punta Gorda, FL & Chatham, on Cape Cod, formerly of Weston, Sept. 4, 2005. Beloved wife of Atty. Warren R. Bolton for 59 years, of Punta Gorda, FL & Chatham. Devoted mother of David W. Bolton of Canaan, NH, Carol A. Bolton of Ballpark, GA, Janice R. Bolton of Ashland, Nancy M. Bolton of South Yarmouth, Sister of Marion E. Berg, James Besso and Pauline Burke, also survived by 6 loving grandchildren and many nephews & nieces. She was a graduate of Waltham High School 1942, serving as the class poet, as the high school field hockey goalie and also as editor of the High School Sports publication. After high school she attended Boston University and later was paralegal and office manager in her husband's law office for many years in Waltham. She also was active in St. Julia's Church, being a key member in starting its thrift shop many years ago and was active in the Weston Republican Club helping to update and establish viable precincts and other matters in its re-alignment. Mrs. Bolton was also very active socially, following the Bi-centennial parade celebrations held in Weston and Concord in which the Ancient & Honorable Artillery of MA, participated as the oldest Military organization in the Western Hemisphere, she hosted a gathering of many notables. She also was in attendance for the Queen of Englands Boston appearance during her bi-centennial appearance. Mrs. Bolton was the hostess and first lady for many N.E. Kiwanis events while her husband was Governor of the six state N.E. District of Kiwanis International during 1969-1970. She and her husband were involved in charitable organizations and drives in conjunction with their many land development projects in MA & FL promoting land gifts, having made a $700,000 land gift of many acres to extend the conservation trails in the town of Lincoln, to a cul-de-sac developed by the Bolton's, off Old Colony Road at the Waltham/Lincoln town line. As an avid gardener she was a former member of many garden clubs in Weston, Chatham and Punta Gorda, FL, Also was a former member of the Isle Yacht Club and member of the St. Andrews South Golf Club & the Charlotte Republican Club in FL.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., Rte. 16, WELLESLEY, Thursday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Julia's Church, Weston Ctr. at 10 am. Relatives & friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8. Interment Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
