Vera Mae Pullen, age 93, passed away at her home in Sylva Rena with her children by her side. She was born in Yalobusha county to the late Vard Wilbourn and Collie Cuebelle Wells Wilbourn. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and needlepointing and tending to her cats and dogs. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Vera was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church.
Services are planned for Monday, March 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Crawford and Bro. James West officiating. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Luke Houston, Tom Byars, Bobby Chandler, Chris Pullen, Sammy Edwards, Tommy McCain, Andy Pullen and Jerry Vaughn serving as pallbearers. Ronnie Eubanks, Larry Sprouse, Buddy Edwards and David Wallis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Pullen is survived by two daughters, Linda Byars and Mary Cubell Chandler, both of Water Valley, MS; two sons, Paul Pullen (Sarah) of Coffeeville, MS and Raymond “Tinker” Pullen of Walls, MS; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. “Doc” Pullen; two brothers, Billy Wilbourn and Edwin Wilbourn; two son-in-laws, William Paul Byars and Robert “Bob” Chandler; and two grandchildren, Caitlin Spencer and Pennie Pullen McKinney.
