Tilma Keeny Portivent, 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. David Biggers officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, and again from noon until 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Portivent was born June 5, 1934, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Russell G. Keeny and Mary Etta Gunn Jacobs. She lived in the community all of her life and worked at the Cotton Mill and Modern Fibers and retired from General Telephone Company, as an operator. Mrs. Portivent earned her nurses aide license late in life and worked at Life Care Center as an aide. She was very active in her children’s activities, loved the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons and fishing with her husband. She was very active in A.A. holding the position of secretary and traveling throughout the South East. She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her children: Marshall Portivent of Panama City, Florida, Pamela & Anthony Giacopelli of Grayson, Georgia, R. F. “Butch” & Kristy Portivent of Henderson, Nevada and David & Lisa Portivent of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Marshall Lee Portivent, Jr., Mathieu Keeny Portivent, Mark Nolen Portivent, Pamela Michellie Portivent, DeeDee Watson Baker, Curtis Lamar Watson, Jr., Joseph Samuel Giacopelli, Ezra James Giacopelli, Jodi Leighann Portivent and Jeffrey Grayson Portivent; 14 great-grandchildren and siblings: Bill & Jean Jacobs of Fitzgerald and James Keeny, Linda K. Hacker and Marvin “Ricky” Keeny, all of St. Augustine, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Lee Portivent; a daughter, Sandra C. Portivent; and four brothers: Albert Wallace Keeny, Gene Keeny, Zan Keeny, and Freddy Jacobs.
