Obituary

WINDHAM, ME – Kim (FitzGerald) Prendergast, 59, passed away March 6, 2017 comforted by her family.
Kim was born in Burlington, VT on September 30, 1957; daughter of Jane (Manley) FitzGerald and the late John W. FitzGerald. She grew up in Milton, VT and graduated from Milton High School in 1975. Kim went on to attend Husson College in Bangor and later earned an Associate’s Degree from Casco Bay College in Portland, ME in 1979.
Kim married her husband, Brian, on June 30, 1979 and raised a family, which became the focus of her life. Her devotion and love for her family was boundless and gave her a great source of pride. Kim was a stay-at-home mom and often took on the role of both parents while Brian pursued a career at sea which resulted in him being away half of every year. Her everlasting love and encouragement of her children has and always will be a catalyst behind their personal and professional achievements. She felt great joy and satisfaction while supporting their individual passions.
Kim had many interests including day trips to Crescent Beach and Fort Williams, strawberry picking, attending the annual Champlain Valley Fair in VT, and seeing the lupines bloom on Georgia Mountain in Milton. She enjoyed home cooked meals and adventures to her favorite eateries. She was an avid bowler and fan of all things sports related. As her children got older she took on a part time position as a file clerk for Preti Flaherty Beliveau & Pachios, LLP where she worked for 12 years.
Kim is survived by her husband of 37 years, Brian Prendergast of Windham; her mother, Jane (Manley) FitzGerald of Milton, VT; her children, Jonathan Prendergast and his partner Kate Kelley of Wilton, ME; Christine Toews and her husband Derek of Methuen, MA; Nicholas Prendergast and his wife Sharon of Georgetown, MA; grandchildren, Wesley, Cole, Audrey and Nolan; her siblings, Dan FitzGerald of Milton, VT; Betsy Kendall of Williston, VT; Jill Tucker and her partner Dean Lafont of Fairfax, VT; Heidi FitzGerald and her partner George Wimble of Fairfax, VT; Jimmy FitzGerald of Milton, VT and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date for friends and loved ones to gather and reflect on Kim’s life.
