Guiomar P. Fernandes, 88, of New Bedford died September 4, 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Santo Antao, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Augusto J. and Gertrude (Pires) Fernandes, she lived in Cape Verde before moving to New Bedford in 1978.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Survivors include a son, Jose F. Monteiro, and his wife Darlease, of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Arsenia Fernandes of New Bedford and Antonia "Nita" Pereira, and her husband Rui, of Randolph; 2 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was the sister of the late Maria Laiete Fernandes, Margarida Estrella, Aderido Fernandes, Lourenco Fernandes and Joao Fernandes and the sister-in-law of the late Isabel Fernandes, Antone Estrella and Alzira Fernandes.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday, September 9th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Thursday, September 8th 4-8 PM.
Interment St. John's Cemetery.
