LOWELL - William A. Shea, age 88, a retired employee of Courier Citizen publishing company,
died Monday, September 5, at the Lowell General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the
husband of Shirley M. (Gosselin-Hewes) Shea.
He was born in Lowell on May 13, 1917, and was a lifelong resident of the city.
He was retired from the typesetting department of Courier Citizen publishing company.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son; William A. Shea Jr. of Saugus; three step-children, Robert
Martineau of Calif., Elaine Crank and her husband Gary of Attleboro, and Linda Kelly of Derry,
NH; and eight grandchildren.
He was also step-father of the late Arthur Hewes; and brother of the late John Shea and Robert
Shea.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Sept. 8, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, E.
Chelmsford.
