Obituary

Roy Rodrigues, 80, of New Bedford died September 5, 2005 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Emma (Jesus) Rodrigues.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Julio and Laura Rodrigues, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.
Mr. Rodrigues was formerly employed as a firefighter with the New Bedford Fire Department, Station 7, for many years until his retirement. He delivered flowers for Garlington Florist for many years.
Mr. Rodrigues enjoyed his English Springer Spaniel "Karabou" and his Boston Terrier, "Emma Sophia".
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and participated in the Campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Survivors include his daughter, June Rodrigues of New Bedford; a sister, Mary Sylvia of Florida; several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was the brother of the late Laura Amaral, Joseph Rodrigues, Charles Rodrigues, Alfred Rodrigues, and Julio Rodrigues, Jr.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, September 8th at 10 AM. Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 11 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Wednesday, September 7th from 4-8 PM.
Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
