
Meredith-------Harold Noreen, passed away at his home in Meredith on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 at the age of 88.
Harold was born June 23, 1928 in Arlington, Mass. After graduating from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1950, Harold spent his entire engineering career in Laconia, N.H. where he became Vice President of Carpenter & Paterson and Bergen Paterson. In addition to setting up and running their manufacturing facilities, he represented the companies on ASME committees and in nuclear negotiations.
He enjoyed many local civic commitments and served on several boards, including those of Gunstock Ski Area and Laconia Savings Bank. Harold approached every activity with an engineer’s precision and spent countless hours turning wooden bowls, working in his shop, and baking bread. He and his wife June also traveled extensively with family and friends. A shared love of the outdoors often found them hiking and skiing in the mountains of Switzerland or Colorado.
Harold leaves behind his wife of 65 years, June (Smith) Noreen of Meredith; his son Scott Noreen, his daughter-in-law Susan Noreen, and two grandchildren, Kevin Noreen and Jennie Noreen, all of Gunnison, Colo. He was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Noreen in 1978.
Friends and colleagues are invited to visit the family Friday, March 17, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Meredith Bay Colony Club in the library area.
