Obituary

Charles Frank “Charlie” Bowman, Jr., 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, September 2, 2005 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Central United Methodist Church, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Tifton, Georgia. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowman was born November 29, 1922, in Ty Ty, Georgia, to the late Charles Frank and Mary Elizabeth Varner Bowman. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II, before moving to Fitzgerald in 1950. Mr. Bowman was former sales manager for Fitzgerald Ford and a former employee of Aultman Pontiac & Cadillac in Albany. He was the former owner/operator of Souvenir Enterprises, Inc. and of Fitzgerald Repair Services, Inc. Mr. Bowman was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Carlisle Sunday School Class. He was Past-Chairman of the Ben Hill County Republican Party.

Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife: June Stone Bowman of Fitzgerald; daughters: Pearl (John) Cox of Virginia Beach, VA, Nancy (Kenny) Bass of Fitzgerald and Kathy Garland of Douglas; stepson: Richard (Teresa) Bish of Watkinsville; granddaughters: Lucy Cox, Betsy Cox and Brittney (Kurt) Sanford; great-grandchildren: Kaylea Bass and Kayne Sanford. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne Garland.
