Obituary

WAYLAND: Bessie E. “Betty” (Kincaid) Pagano, 92, died peacefully and comfortably following a period of declining health.
She was born in the little town of Sutton, Vermont on June 13, 1924 the daughter of the late Leon Kincaid and Lillian (Stanhope) Kincaid.
She was the beloved wife of 72 years of the late Alfred P. “PA” Pagano who died just five months ago on September 24, 2016.
She was the loving mother of Sandra L. O’Brien and her husband Jack O’Brien of York, ME; Carol Ann Hewitt and her husband Roger Hewitt of Hope, ME; Robert A. Pagano and his wife Karen Pagano of Ventura, CA; Alfred P. Pagano, Jr. and his companion Nathlie Dutra both of Wayland; Philip J. Pagano and his wife Heidi Pagano of Nokomis, FL and Tonia M. Kearns and her husband James Kearns of Natick. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, Jack. She was the grandmother of the late Mark D. “Obie” O’Brien who died on November 15, 1997. Sister of the late Ruby Lanpher; Bonnie Collins and Arthur Kincaid.
At the age of sixteen, Betty left her little town in Vermont to become a Nanny for a doctor and his family in Newton. A few years later, she met the love of her life, Fred Pagano and began a family in 1944 in Newton. Several years later they moved to Wayland with their children and have resided here for 53 years.
Betty was known for her devoted child care for many Wayland children and especially her own grandchildren whom she loved deeply.
She was an avid knitter, had a wonderful sense of humor and she and “PA” never missed the opportunity to dance. She will be remembered for her love of her family and friends and her kindness to others.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:30 am at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the O’Brien-Pagano family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
In lieu of flowers her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Betty’s memory be sent to the Wayland Boosters Assoc., POB 153, Wayland, MA 01778.
