Obituary

Suzanne Marie (Wood) Smith, of Tewksbury, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was 62.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Chappel) Wood. After graduating from Woburn High School, Suzanne obtained certification to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Although she worked in many different areas of healthcare, her mission never changed. Suzanne was a caregiver and lived to help others. Her children describe her as a selfless, loving, and caring person. She put everyone before herself; her entire life was based around helping those in need.

In her spare time, Suzanne enjoyed gardening flowers. Her favorite flowers were carnations. She also enjoyed listening to music. She was a lover of all kinds, but she reserved country as her favorite. Suzanne’s favorite singers were Adele and Kenny Chesney.

When she had time at the end of the day or on the weekends, Suzanne and her husband loved to go to the beach. She enjoyed walking in the sand, feeling the sea breeze on her face, and watching the waves over the horizon. The beach is where she relaxed and rejuvenated herself. It was her escape. At night, she and her husband could be found enjoying quiet evenings with a crossword puzzle or word search.

Suzanne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her generous spirit and captivating sincerity left a mark on all those who met her. She will be missed and remembered as the selfless, loving, and caring person that she truly was.

She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Smith. They married on October 25, 1997 and shared twenty loving years of marriage. Suzanne was the devoted mother of Robert Teixeira of Haverhill, Amy Teixeira of Manchester, New Hampshire, Adam Teixeira of Everett, Joseph Pappalardo of Tewksbury, and the mother-in-law of Sarah Feeney of Malden. She was the loving grandmother of Christopher, Jacob, Renee and Nico Teixeira and Anthony Feeney. She was the dear sister of Eileen of Maynard and Della of Beverly. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
