Claire Marie (Cunningham) Murphy, 82, of Norwood formerly of Walpole, passed away peacefully in her sleep, February 15 in the Ellis Nursing & Rehabilitation.
Born in Boston, March 8,1934, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ida (Bernazzani) Cunningham, Mrs. Murphy had lived in Boston, Brockton and Walpole before moving Norwood.
She was a graduate of Roslindale High School.
She had worked as a secretary with Merrill Lynch, the New England Medical Center and the Leukemia Society.
Claire is survived by her children, Terry Tarner and her husband Todd of Eagle River, Alaska and her son Thomas Murphy and his wife Terry of Walpole.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Becca Tarner of Seattle, Washington, Katie Smith of Issaquah, Washington, Jackie Tarner of Anchorage, Alaska, and John P. Murphy of Walpole.
She is also survived by her brother James Cunningham of Kingston and was the sister of the late William Cunningham.
Claire also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She loved her family and friends dearly and never met an animal she didn’t like. She will be sorely missed by all.
Her memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main Street, Walpole.
