Charles Lyman Brewer, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, February 11, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Steve O’Neal and the Rev. Farise Taylor officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Brewer was born July 27, 1930, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Jake Eston & Esther Osborne Brewer. He lived in the community all of his life and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Mr. Brewer was a 1948 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended South Georgia College and Georgia State College. Along with his wife, Margie, he was owner and operator of the Dove’s Nest for 11 years. Mr. Brewer was a crib manager with Delphi for 18 years. He was very involved in the community, receiving the Boy Scouts District Award of Merit and the General Motors Award for Excellence in Community Activities. Mr. Brewer was a very active member and elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Greer Brewer of Fitzgerald; two sons: Brian Brewer of Atlanta and Brett & Jan Hornaday Brewer of Zionsville, Indiana; a daughter, Dana Wolfe of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren: Amy Viator, William Brewer and Charles Brewer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jake Brewer and a sister, Laurie Lee McNease.
