New Bedford – Eliot A. “Butch” Spooner III, 54, of New Bedford died Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the long-time companion of Audrey A. Ellis of New Bedford.
He was born in Wareham, son of the late Eliot A. Spooner, Jr. and the late Henrietta (Freelove) Spooner, and was a lifelong resident of the Greater New Bedford area. A decorated war veteran, he bravely served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement due to illness in 2004, he was co-owner of Allied Engineering. Mr. Spooner was a member of the Acushnet Citizens Club and enjoyed sports, golf and music.
Including his long-time companion he is survived by: a son: Eliot A. Spooner IV of New Bedford; a daughter: Melinda A. Spooner and her fiancé Aaron Valliere of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren; several uncles, aunts and cousins; and many good friends.
