Obituary

Dolores (Costa) Medeiros, 81, of New Bedford passed away Saturday January 28, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Manuel P. Medeiros.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel P. and Alice (Martin) Costa, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

Mrs. Medeiros was the proud owner of the Celebrations Boutique, where she enjoyed creating party favors, cake tops and unique cakes, which was her true passion. She also planned weddings and parties. After she closed her business she became a foster parent to specialized foster children for many years. She made a huge impact in many of their lives, taking them into her home and caring and loving them like family.

After her retirement she enjoyed travelling to Florida in her motor home and visiting Disney where she would go many times a year. She also loved the Daytona Flea Market where she would spend hours. She also loved shopping at Walmart where she felt three hours wasn’t enough time to shop. Mrs. Medeiros loved being with her daughter, who cared for, and stood by her, until the very end. She also loved being with her grandchildren who were also by her side. Mrs. Medeiros also looked forward to the time she would spend with her long time home health aid, Luisa Coucelos whom she loved like a daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Kendra J. Boswell of New Bedford; her son, Troy Medeiros of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Erika Medeiros, Brandon Medeiros, Jessica Tyler, Devon Rose-Boswell, and Brent Boswell; four great-grandchildren, Destiny Jones, Landon Medeiros, Evangeline Piedade, and Levi DeAndrade; and many Godchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Rhonda Medeiros, her son-in-law, Daniel A.Boswell, and her sister, Nancy Baker.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visitation hours are omitted. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
