Billy Wayne Mobley, 67, of Tifton passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Vanceville Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Jack Perrin officiating. Mr. Mobley will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 9, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Vanceville Congregational Christian Church.
Terry Nichols, Mark York, Eric Rutland, Johnny Dunn, Don Turner, Randy Blalock, Randall Waldrop and Jerry White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Massey, Knocker Gibbs, Phil McMillan, Craig Howell, Chip Marchant, Joe Gray, Ricky Prince, Allen Tanner, Roger Webb, Lloyd Webb, Rusty Webb, Gilbert Webb and Dale Crabtree.
Born January 4, 1950 in Irwin County, Mr. Mobley was the son of Effie Youghn Purvis of Tifton and the late Billy Carlton Mobley. Before retiring, he was self-employed in the lease and finance business. He was a member of Vanceville Congregational Christian Church.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Mobley is survived by his wife, Marie Webb Mobley of Tifton; one son, Rusty Mobley and Angela Cole of Glenwood; three step-sons and their spouses, Shane and DeAnn Benefield, Alton and Delaine Benefield and Adam Benefield and Lara Eubanks, all of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Joe Phillips of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Larry Gillespie of Washington; nine grandchildren, Joseph and Lyndsay Phillips, Ryan and Megan Mobley, Jessi and Blake Benefield, Katy Eubanks, Reagan Benefield and Savannah Bohler; and his special Hospice nurse, Cherry Cornelius.
