Obituary


GORHAM- Clifford Austin MacConnell Jr., age 86, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Gorham on Feb. 5, 2017.
He was born in Portland on Nov. 14, 1930, a child of the late Clifford Sr. and Evelyn (Richmond) MacConnell.
He attended South Portland Schools and graduated from Scarborough High School. Afterwards, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1947 – 1951.
Throughout his working years, Clifford was employed as a truck driver, retiring from St. Johnsbury Trucking.
He will always be remembered for his love of boating, fishing, camping, snow-mobiling, an avid Patriots fan, and being with his beloved family.
He was a member and Past Master of Harmony Masonic Lodge in Gorham and proudly served as a firefighter at the West Gorham Fire Department for 40 years.
Clifford is predeceased by his beloved wife Marlene (Ustic) MacConnell who passed away in 2015, and a sister - Sally Buckley.
He is survived by his children – Robert MacConnell and his wife Lois of Washington state, Paul MacConnell of Gorham, Bryan MacConnell of Standish, Diana Panetti and her boyfriend Leon Moody of Limington; siblings- Jerome, Lynn, and Muriel; sister in law- Livia Leigh of South Portland; grandchildren- Peter Panetti, Christopher Panetti and his wife Heather, Bobby and Jeremy MacConnell, Nicholas MacConnell; a great grandson- Mason; an expected great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with USMC and Masonic honors will be announced and held in the spring at West Gorham Cemetery.
