Avenell Simpson Partin, 96, of Tifton passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017, at her daughter’s residence following a short illness. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Landon Alberson and the Rev. Roger Blanchard officiating. Mrs. Partin will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Russell Luke, Robert Marchant, Charles Welch, Sammy Mason, Freddie McLendon and Ricky Tucker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class at Brookfield Baptist Church.
Born April 30, 1920 in Cook County, Mrs. Partin was the daughter of the late Thomas Simpson and Vesta Lindsey Simpson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Van Partin; one daughter, Betty Partin Johnson; and all ten of her siblings. She was a homemaker; an excellent seamstress; an avid reader; and had traveled to most of the 50 states. She was a member of Brookfield Baptist Church.
Mrs. Partin is survived by one daughter, Shirley Partin Rice and husband, Lowell of Tifton; grandchildren, Brooke Johnson, Eric (Julie) Johnson and Glenn (Shanna) Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Alex, Ella, Nate, Claire, Thomas and Ava.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Tift Area and the staff of Southern Oaks Assisted Living for their care of Mrs. Partin.
