Natalie L. (Scipione) Mutascio 86, of Medway, died peacefully, Monday Jan. 30, 2017 at the Medway Country Manor, following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Joseph A. Mutascio for 28 years, until his passing in 2012. Born June 24, 1930, in Boston, a daughter of the late William B. and Evelyn (Reed) Scipione, she was a former resident of Bellingham, Franklin, Port Charlotte, FL, Canton, and Jamaica Plain before moving to Medway (Medway Country Manor) about six months ago.
She was raised and educated in Boston and was a retired hairdresser, who owned and operated several salons including Salon 54 in Jamaica Plain. Natalie's passions were cosmetology and animals. She loved animals of every kind. The safety, protection and care of all animals large or small, she was devoted to caring for them. She also enjoyed spending the winter in Florida, Arizona and traveling.
She is survived by a son, Michael J. Byrne and his life partner Brian D. Wiley of Bellingham and several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Gloria Ruggiero, Esther Gavell & Thomas Scipione.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass Tues. Feb. 7th at 10:30AM in St. Joseph’s Church 1200 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket, RI. Burial will be held privately at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree. Calling hours are Monday Feb. 6th at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin from 6-8PM.
