James L. Cook, Jr. , age 79, of Memphis,TN died at his home on Sunday August 28, 2005. Mr. Cook was born in Oxford, MS to the late James L. Cook, Sr and Gladys Hall Cook. He was of the Baptist faith and was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly.
James served our country in the US Air Force in both WW II and the Korean War. A retired Major and Fighter Pilot his love of flying never ended, he continued to enjoy flying the small models. In addition to being retired from the Air Force, he was retired from the Federal Aviation Association. He was a member of the AFA, The Retired Officers Association and the Tail Draggers Association.
Visitation for Mr. Cook will be on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 1:00 pm and up until service time of 2 PM . The funeral service will be Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 2:00 pm in Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, with Brother James West officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
Surviving Mr. Cook are: wife, Virginia Simmons Cook from Memphis, TN: daughter, Semra Cook Parks of Southaven, MS: son, James Marcus Cook of Memphis, TN: sister, Margaret Gill of Bradenton, FL: and Grandchildren,Bobby, Dalton and Shelby Parks of Southaven, MS.
