Obituary

Robert Charles “Flip” Champ, 61, of 19 Circle Drive, Arlington Acres, Stonington, passed peacefully Saturday morning with his family at his side.

He was born in Rockville on October 27, 1943 the son of the late Oliver and Susan (Savage) Champ. Raised in Rockville, he was a graduate of Rockville High School.

He was employed as Plant Manager of United Foam Plastics for over 25 years before retiring due to illness.

Known for his kind, independent spirit, “Flip” enjoyed his home, the ocean, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey A. Champ and his partner Hector Marcano of New London and Christine M. Loughborough and her husband Jody of Stonington; his granddaughter, Brooke Loughborough; a brother, David Champ and his wife Leslie of Pawcatuck, and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Champ. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Richard Champ.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted at Stonington Cemetery on Tuesday at 11am. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice of S.E.C.T., PO Box 902, Uncasville CT 06382.
