Bernard R. Bacon, 88, of Windham, NH, died Thursday, August 25, 2005 in the Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell, MA. Mr. Bacon was born in Sidney, ME on October 17, 1916, a son of the late Roy Sawtelle Bacon and Ella Agnes Evans. He married Adeline E. Osborne on October 16, 1941 in Everett, MA. They lived at 114 Andover St., Wilmington, MA for 50 years prior to moving to the Bacon Family farmhouse in Sidney, Maine in 1991. Bernard graduated from the apprentice course at General Electric in Lynn, MA and continued working there for 47 years, retiring in January of 1982. He enjoyed motorcycles, cars, snow skiing and water skiing. He attended the Bethel Baptist Church in Danville, NH.
He is survived by one son, Wesley H. Bacon of Henrietta, NY, one daughter, Pamela L. Lundquist of Windham, NH, six grandchildren, Bryan Lundquist, M.D. of Maine, Wendy Lundquist and Julie Shumpert both of SC, John Bacon, Kristin Bacon, Karen Bacon all of OH, four great-grandchildren, Emily Lundquist and Christina Lundquist both of Maine, Olivia Pack of OH, Joseph Shumpert of SC, one brother, Roy Bacon of Saugus, MA, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Adeline on January 21, 2000, by one brother Carl Bacon and one sister Erlolya Varcoe.
Calling hours were on Monday, August 29th from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd, Londonderry, NH. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 30th at 10:00am in the funeral home. A graveside service was held on Wednesday at 11:30am in the Sawtelle Cemetery in Sidney, Maine.
