Obituary

Marie Hadji-Hagopian, 82, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at home, surrounded by her family. Her husband of 57 years, Souren Hadji-Hagopian, pre-deceased her in 1997.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter - Sarkis Hagopian and his wife, Sima, Arusyak Adzhi-Akopyan and Hagop Hagopian and his wife Veronika, all of Worcester; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nephews. She was born July 15, 1923, in Kharpert and lived in Armenia until 1980, when she moved to the United States with her family. She gave her boundless love, caring and energy to all in her family and was affectionately known as "Marie Mama" by her extended family and even friends and neighbors. She was the embodiment of pure and selfless love, and equally giving and loving as mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was a guiding light for her grandchildren, Dr. Anna Kazanchyan of White Plains, NY, Vage Kazanchian, Lusine Baghsarian, Ani Hagopian, Armen Hagopian and Gohar Hagopian, all of Worcester, MA, all of whom she helped raise in the spirit of God and good citizenship. She will be in her family’s heart and thoughts forever.

Funeral services will be Friday, 11:00 AM at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, 6-8 pm at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., a Dhangark Service will be held during calling hours.

Contributions in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester.
