Obituary

Edward Ashley Dauley, 87 of Bellingham formerly of Franklin, died January 16 at his home after a long and arduous struggle with COPD. He was the husband of the late June H. (Flood) Dauley who died in 1999.

Born in Candor, New York, April 30,1929, the son of the late Alvin L. and Ellen (Shelp) Dauley, Mr. Dauley was raised in Framingham, had lived in Franklin for 51 years where he raised his family, and has resided in Bellingham since that time.

He worked at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Framingham for 35 years before retiring in the early 80’s. Following his retirement, Ed worked part-time for the Wayside Press in Medway and Wooden’s Appliance Store in Milford. After retirement, Ed realized his passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing the same with his children and grandchildren. During his time on Pond Street, Ed was an avid and fruitful gardener, sharing the labor of his love with friends, family and had a vegetable stand in front of his home for many years.

Mr. Dauley served in the Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Private First Class and was most proud of this accomplishment in his life.

Ed is survived by his children, Richard Dauley of Framingham, James Dauley of Blackstone, Maureen Emond of Clarence Center, New York, Bonnie Hoagland of Hopkinton and Joy Greene of Holliston. He was the father of the late Robert E. Dauley.

Mr. Dauley is also survived by his sisters Marilyn Burke of Framingham and Marjorie Rogers of Chelsea, and was the brother of the late Gerald and Robert Dauley and Doris Sevier. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Ed shared the last 17 years of his life with his companion Barbara Shaw of Bellingham, who became his faithful and devoted caregiver, and was with him when he passed.

His memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 19, following visitation that day from 4 PM – 7PM, in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway.
