George B. Morgan, 87, of Mystic, Connecticut, passed away on January 11, 2017. George was born on June 21, 1929 in Russell, KY. He married Diana Crist in April 1955. George attended the University of Kentucky, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had a long distinguished career at General Electric. In addition to his successful career, George was an active and dedicated member of the First Reformed Church of Schenectady, NY. He was also very active in the Rotary Club and Mohawk Golf Club. He continued volunteering for his churches and communities well into retirement. He married Jean Fronko in November 1987, and retired to Dataw Island, Beaufort, South Carolina. George and Jean moved to the StoneRidge community, Mystic, CT in 2006.
He was predeceased by Diana, Jean and his siblings, Ranald, Mabel and Annie. George is survived by his sister Olive, his sons and daughter, Todd Morgan (Dayna), Dean Morgan (Pam) and Lisa Gubrud (David); stepdaughters, Karen Meeks (Jeffrey) and Kathleen Rafsky (Gary); grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer and Rebecca Morgan and Laura, Amy and Scott Gubrud, Andrew and Sarah Meeks, Amanda Schmidt, Devin Dwyer and Adam Rafsky. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of George’s life will be held this summer in Schenectady, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation at 200 SE 1st Street - Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 or at www.parkinson.org. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Avalon Health Care Center for the wonderful, dedicated and loving care given to George during his final years.
