Robert D. Robie, 77, of Norcross St., Manchester, NH died on May 29, 2002 at his home following a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Mr. Robie was born in Haverhill, Ma, on April 3, 1925, the son of the late Edward G. and Gladys (Langford) Robie. He moved to Littleton, NH in 1932 and graduated from Littleton High School Class of 1943. In 1950 he married Bettina Kimball and they moved to Manchester in 1952. He was employed as manager of Bedford Grove Drive In Theater, Bedford, NH for 25 years. In 1967 he graduated from the New England Institute of Anatomy Science and Embalming in Boston, Ma, and assisted several funeral homes in Southern New Hampshire for many years. He retired from Tri State Sales and Amusements, Manchester. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Manchester. He was a member of the Washington Lodge #61 F & AM of Manchester, a member of the Bektash Temple AAONMS of Concord, NH and the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley, Nashua. He was also a lifetime member of the East Side Club, Manchester.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bettina (Kimball) Robie, Manchester, one son, Robert E. Robie, Manchester, one daughter, Sharilyn L. Button, W. Roxbury, Ma, three grandchildren, Megan F. Robie, Manchester, Robert O. Button, East Brookfield, Ma, John C. Button, W. Roxbury, Ma, two twin great grandchildren, Alexandra and John Button, also several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Memorial services may be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
