Family and friends are remembering the life of Linda Jean (Coates) Riffle, of Ledyard, who passed Tuesday at the age of 57 after a brief battle with cancer.
A lifelong resident of this area, she was born in New London on October 21, 1957 the daughter of Jennie B. (Williams) Coates of Gales Ferry and the late Robert Coates Sr. She attended local schools and was employed at Ed’s Mistick Village Laudromat & Cleaners for the past 9 years. She previously worked at Surtix .
In addition to her mother, Linda is survived by her husband, Gerald; her siblings, Robert Coates Jr. of Preston , Shane Coates of Gales Ferry, and Juanita Needham of Plainfield; her children, Jo-Lynn Rodgers and Heidi Tolbert of Norwich and Silina Ford of Plainfield, and Dennis and Glenn Riffle of Ledyard; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sherry Ann Riffle and two siblings, Shirley Coates and Wayne Coates.
Linda’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 6-8pm. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Thursday at 2pm.
