Julia B. DeSerres, 98, formerly of North Smithfield died Thursday January 5, 2017 at The Holiday in Manville. She was the loving wife of the late Charles E. DeSerres. They were married in 1940 and shared over 58 years together until his passing in 1998.
Born and raised in Greenport on Long Island, New York she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Caroline (Shaw) Dawson. She resided in North Smithfield for most of her adult life.
Mrs. DeSerres assisted her late husband with his business Charlie’s Floor Sanding Company.
Julia was a member of the Royal Travelers and was talented at making numerous crafts.
She is survived by four daughters Yvonne DiSandro and her husband, Silvio, of Smithfield, Carole Bisson of West Warwick, Irene Gamache and her husband, Eugene, of North Smithfield and Doreen DeSerres and her husband, Thomas, of Melbourne, FL. She was the sister of Viola Muzzarelli of Indiana and the late Frederick, Charles, Harold and Alfred Dawson, Edith Ayr, Irene Bergo, Sarah Newlin and Caroline Blackey. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was the grandmother of the late Andrea Rose McGuiness.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 11:00am in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church on Park Ave. in Woonsocket. Burial in Swan Point Cemetery in Providence will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Holiday Retirement Home Activities Fund, 30 Sayles Hill Rd. Manville, RI. 02838.
