CHELMSFORD—Joseph A. Burton, 61 years old, a resident of Chelmsford, died unexpectedly Monday morning August 22nd, at Saints Memorial Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Linda J. (Lothrop) Burton, who survives him.
He was born in Lynn, on December 30, 1943, a son of Louise M. Burton, of Lynn, and the late Joseph W. Downs, and was a graduate of the Lynn Public Schools, Berklee School of Music, and Franklin Pierce College.
Mr. Burton had been employed as a Councilor by the Middlesex County Corrections Department, in Billerica, for the past eighteen years. He was a member of the New Life Christian Community Church and a member of the Boston Musicians Union, the National and Merrimack Valley HOG Associations, the Merrimack Valley N.A.A.C.P. and the I.B.C.O., Local #193.
Surviving him besides his wife and mother are his four children: Craig A. Burton, of Lynn; Todd A. Burton and Gina Grandberry, of Lynn; Kristen and Wallace Morant, of Brockton; and Heather L. Burton, of Lynn; five grandchildren; his father-in-law: Robert Lothrop, of Kennebunk, ME; also many cousins.
Friends may call from 4 until 7 PM Thursday, August 25th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte.38). His Funeral Service to be held Friday, August 26th, at 11 AM at the New Life Christian Community Church; 150 Middlesex Street, Lowell. Cremation to follow.
