Obituary

CLERMONT, FL-Anthony G. “Tony” Anton, 88 formerly of 555 Plantation St. and 3 Huron Ave. Worcester, MA died Sunday, August 21, in Westminster Care of Clermont. His wife of 57 years, Beatrice B. (Savage) Anton died December 29, 2002.
He leaves sons; Ronald P. Anton of Glendale, AZ and Dennis A. Anton of Clermont; and a daughter Rosemary A. Gentile of Boxford, MA; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by brothers, Joseph, John, William, Walter and Adam Anton; sisters Anna Mikelauskas, Julia Glodis and Mary Jassons. He was born in Worcester, son of Karl and Constance (Kudarauskas) Antinovich and lived there for many years.
Mr. Anton was a graduate of Worcester Boy’s Trade High School and served in the US Army during World War II from 1940-1945. He served in the European, African and Middle Eastern theater earning the American Defense Service and European, African and Middle East ribbons as well as a good conduct medal. Tony was a furnace operator for L. Farber Co. retiring in 1981 and previously worked 30 years for New England High Carbon, Millbury, MA. He was a lifetime member of St. Casimir’s Church, Worcester. Mr. Anton was a third degree member of the Knights of Lithuania, Council 26, a member of the St. Casimir’s Men’s and Mixed Choirs, Lithuanian Naturalization Club, the Lithuanian Charitable Society, AARP and the former St. Casimir’s Men’s Club and was a former member of Benedict Council Knights of Columbus.
The funeral will be held Friday, August 26, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir’s Church, 41 Providence St. Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 25, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir’s Church, 41 Providence St., Worcester, MA. 01604.
