Robert P. Watson, Sr.
Robert P. Watson, Sr., of Winchester and Little Neck, Ipswich died suddenly on Tuesday Aug. 23rd. He was 84 years old. Born in Malden, Massachusetts on April 7, 1921 , he was the son of George H. and Mabel (Downes). He was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School in 1939, married and moved to Winchester where he lived with his family for the last 52 years.
He was the owner of R.P. Watson Associates, an HVAC company serving Winchester and the surrounding communities. He was an active volunteer, serving as Deacon and leader of the Youth Fellowship at the 2nd Congregational Church in Winchester. Bob was also active in the Jenks Senior Center where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee for a number of years. He was an elected member of Winchester Town Meeting for several terms. He played an active role in Winchester youth sports while his children were growing up in town and he was an avid sports fan of the Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. He often loaded the family station wagon with his children and their friends to take in a game.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and boating in and around the Littleneck section of Ipswich.
He was the husband of Ivaloo V. (Pritchard), loving father of Robert P. Jr. and his wife Jean of Falmouth, Susan J. Watson of Winchester and Sally E. Watson of Nashua, NH, and dear brother of the late G. Allan Watson. He was the Grandfather of David and his wife Meryl of Falmouth, and Steven Watson of Watertown and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 26 in the Second Congregational Church of Winchester, 475 Washington St. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thurs. from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St. Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Jenks Senior Center 109 Skillings Road Winchester 01890 or the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
