Donald Philip Morrison, of Charlton died Tuesday, January 3, 2017, he was 93.
Born in Boston ,MA., he graduated from Boston University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He later earned his MBA degree from the University of Connecticut,
He served with the U.S. Marine Corps. during WWII and was awarded 5 battle stars for service in the South Pacific.
Mr. Morrison served as a corporate executive for Cabot Corporation in Boston, Associated Spring Corporation in Bristol, Ct., and Pratt Read & Company in Ivoryton, CT.
He was First Selectman for Westbrook, CT. for 3 terms. He served as Moderator for the Westbrook Congregational Church for 12 years. He was a Mason, Shriner, Grange Member and a Life Member of the VFW.
Mr. Morrison was active in many community organizations, including heading up the Valley Shore YMCA, Essex Community Fund, Westbrook Salvation Army, Bristol United Fund and the Silver Bay Industrial Relations Conference.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta (Van Ness) Morrison, a daughter, Janet R. Morrison of Old Lyme, CT., a son, Robert B. Morrison and his wife Deborah of Kittery, Maine, and 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
He was predeceased by a son, Douglas P. Morrison.

A Private Graveside Service with Military Honors will be Wednesday, May 10,2017 at 11:30am in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue in Bourne, MA., with Marine Honor Guard, a Scottish bagpiper playing "Scotland the Brave", Rev. Mike Ebner will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Daniel Webster Inn in Sandwich, MA. to Remember Don with his great sense of humor and surely would love this to be a cheerful gathering of friends and family.
