James R. Morris, 85, of Sunbury passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held for Mr. Morris at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Morris will be laid to rest at a later date.
Born February 26, 1931, in Talladega, Alabama, Mr. Morris was the son of the late James Calvin and Mae Oma Morris. He had lived in Sunbury for the past 20 years and attended the Midway United Methodist Church. He worked in sales and personal ministry and enjoyed his retirement years studying the Bible, camping and being with family and friends. He was a veteran of the Korean War and educated in counseling at Memphis State University and Birmingham Southern University.
He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Sharon Ball Morris of Tifton; his three children, James Richard Morris, Jr. of Roswell, Cheryl Morris Claiborne of Neptune Beach, Florida and Beryl Morris Lucero of Simpsonville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Nichole, Brittany, Duncan, Daniel and Jada; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Belle; his sister, Evelyn Morris Knight of Cleveland, Tennessee; a brother, Hugh Nathan Morris of Cleveland, Tennessee; and numerous extended family members.
