Mary Gladys (Sheehy) McCoy, 93, a lifelong resident of Medway, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Charlwell House in Norwood after a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Robert R. McCoy, Sr. who died in 1978.
Born in Milford on February 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary T. (O’Rourke) Sheehy.
Mrs. McCoy graduated from Medway High School in 1941 and the former South Middlesex Secretarial School in Framingham.
Before her retirement, she worked as a secretary in the Medway Public Schools for many years.
Mrs. McCoy was a member and treasurer of the Catholic Daughters Court St. Joseph for many years. She enjoyed travelling to Florida, spending time on Cape Cod and loved to crochet.
She is also survived by two sons, Robert McCoy, Jr. and his wife Janice of Millis and Daniel McCoy and his wife Mary Jane of Marion.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, James McCoy and his wife Jamee of Taunton, John “Jack” McCoy and his wife Stephanie of New York City, Deanna McCoy of New Bedford and Laura McCoy of Marion and three great-grandchildren, Adam, Jacob and Riley McCoy of Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Wednesday, January 11 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
