Obituary

John A. Hickey, 76, died at home in Carver on Sunday, August 21 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Marion F. (Callahan) Hickey. Born in Malden, Mr. Hickey was a graduate of Malden High School. He lived in Stoughton for over 20 years before moving to Carver 22 years ago. He was a World War II Veteran with the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Hickey was a starter inspector with the MBTA for 30 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Local 589 and Local 600 in Boston, as well as the American Legion in Plymouth. He also drove school buses for Interstate Coach in Stoughton for over 15 years.

In addition to his wife Marion, Mr. Hickey is survived by his sons, John G. Hickey of Cumberland, RI and Thomas B. Hickey of Carver. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger B. Hickey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, August 25 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Donations in John’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn., 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, 02140-1102. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
