STONINGTON: Helen Lathrop Petty, 90, of Stonington died on Sunday, August 21, 2005.
Born in New York City on March 26, 1915, she was the daughter of Henry Monroe and Cornelia Penfield Lathrop. She was married for 46 years to William Calvin Petty, Jr., who died in 1985.
Mrs. Petty was a graduate of Vassar College and held a Masters in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island. She was formerly the library director at the Avery Point campus of the University of Connecticut.
She is survived by her children: William C. Petty III (Nancy) of Bronxville, NY; Henry L. Petty (Lois) of Westport, CT; Dr. Barbara P. Heuer of New York City; Michael S. Petty (Valerie) of Silver Spring, MD; Deborah B. Dalton (James) of Cooperstown, NY; and Cornelia P. Young (Jamie) of Petaluma, CA; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
There will be a memorial celebration at 340 Al Harvey Road, Stonington on Sunday, August 28th at 2:00pm.
