John H. Sherman, Jr., 91, of Bryantville, passed away on Monday December 19th after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Phillips) Sherman.
He was born in Brockton,son of the late John and Evelyn (Pratt) Sherman, Sr. John was raised in Avon and was a graduate of Avon High School. John and his family summered in Bryantville, before permanently moving there in 1976.
John served his country in the United States Navy, where he met his wife Rosemary during his time in the service.
He worked at the Avon Sole Company for 27 years as a production manager and then at BiltRite in Chelsea for 15 years. John enjoyed gardening and stamp collecting.
In addition to his wife Rosemary, he is survived by his children, John H. Sherman, III and his wife Virginia, of NH, Patricia Sherman of Bryantville, Evelyn Wamboldt and her husband Gary of Randolph and his son-in-law William Severse. He was also the father of the late Cynthia Severse; also survived by his grandchildren, Heather Gosson, John, IV and Steven Sherman, Tracy Hall, Nicole Heim and Joshua Severse.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday December 22nd at 12:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00AM-12:00PM.
