WEBSTER – Richard T. “Sonny” Lavallee, 74, of 12 Valley St., died Thursday, August 18, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after being stricken ill. His wife of 54 years, Beatrice P. (Jalbert) Lavallee, died July 30, 2004. He would have been 75 on August 19.
He leaves a son, Steven R. Lavallee and his wife Dori A. of Webster; two daughters, Anita L. Wilson and her husband Carl W. of Oxford, and Lisa A. Jolie of Sturbridge; a brother, Philip Lavallee of Charlton; six grandchildren, Bradford, Brent, Emily, Alex, Steven Jr. and Victoria; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Grace Jolie in 2001, and by a son-in-law, Raymond Jolie in 2004.
He was born in Webster, a son of William Lavallee and Anna (Pawelczyk) Lavallee Kenneway, and was a lifelong resident.
An auto mechanic, Mr. Lavallee owned and operated Chagnon’s Auto Service in Dudley for many years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a life member of its League of the Sacred Heart. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working around the house. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
The funeral will be held Monday, August 22, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main St. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, August 21, in the funeral home.
