Robert I. Hicks, Sr., 74, of Londonderry, NH died Wednesday August 17, 2005 at his home. Mr. Hicks was born in Manchester, NH on June 27, 1931 a son of the late Daniel F. and Hazel (Plummer) Hicks. He was a lifelong resident of Londonderry. He was a 1949 graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH. He retired from the US Air Force in 1986 after more than 32 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #27 in Londonderry. He enjoyed fishing, reading and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Yvette L. (Hamel) Hicks of Londonderry, two daughters, Doreen O’Brien and her husband Darren of Londonderry, Donna L. Hicks of Londonderry, one son, Robert I. Hicks, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Nashua, four grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Heather and Emily, three brothers, George P. Hicks and his wife Irene of Londonderry, Daniel F. Hicks, II and his wife Gretchen of Londonderry, David A. Hicks and his wife Jeanne of Londonderry, one sister, Shirley Belger of Maine, his sister-in-law, Arlene Hicks of Londonderry, also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Hicks in 2002.
Funeral services were held on Monday August 22nd at 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery, Londonderry. Calling hours were held Sunday at the Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM. Because Mr. Hicks loved to read, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Leach Public Library, 276 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH 03053.
