Jeannine D. (Dubois) Penler, 83, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, formerly of New Bedford, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 unexpectedly after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, Jeannine was the sixth of eleven children born to George and Marianne Dubois. She was raised in New Bedford where she graduated from Holy Family High School and Kinyon Campbell Secretarial School. She was married to the late John B. Penler, owner of the former Paragon Travel Agency of New Bedford.
Jeannine enjoyed golf as a member of the Country Club of New Bedford and the Acoaxet Club in Westport. After retiring to Florida, Jeannine became an avid bridge player and became a Bridge Life Master.
She is survived by her four children, Patricia LaVallee of Fort Lauderdale, Peter LaVallee and his wife Lynn of Mattapoisett, Paul LaVallee and James LaVallee of Fort Lauderdale; four grandchildren, Lauren LaVallee of Little Compton, RI, Rachel LaVallee of Manhattan, NY, and Timothy and Michael LaVallee of Las Vegas, NV; her siblings, Therese Ghilardi, Yvette Toyfair, Roger Dubois, Robert Dubois, Paul Dubois, Richard Dubois, and Suzanne Imel; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday December 19, 2016 at 8:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday December 18, 2016 from 6-8 PM.
