NEW BEDFORD -- Edward G. "Ted" Strain, 78, of South Dartmouth died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria (Hollis) Strain.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Richard and Doris (Lyon) Strain. He lived in this area most of his life and was a member of the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Abraham H. Howland Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. and Hawthorne Country Club. He was an avid golfer.
Mr. Strain was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Whitney Strain, and his wife, Debbie, of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Allyson Strain-Adams and her husband, Bob, of Eliot, Maine, and Pam Strain of Houston; and a grandson.
An informal gathering of friends will take place at his home from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2005.
