94 of Revere, formerly of Chelsea, died December 8th at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his family. Born in Chelsea he was the son of the late Samuel and Goldie (Melamed) Mirochnick. Raised and educated in Chelsea a graduate of Chelsea High School where he was a standout basketball player who was nicked named the “Octopus”. Alex went on to play semi pro basketball with the Boston Goodwins and also coached and refereed at several area colleges. Alex had owned 5 shoe stores in the Greater Boston area and was owner of the Everett Travel Agency of Everett.
Alex is survived by his life long companion of forty five years Lillian Bockser of Revere and his son Scott March and his wife Katie of Parkland, FL, his grandchildren Tiffany and Brandon March and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Henry Mirochnick, Kiva Mirochnick, Bernard Morochnick & Sonia “Sunny” Black.
His funeral service will be held from the Torf Funeral Chapel 151 Washington Ave., Chelsea, Sunday Dec. 11th at 2:00PM. Interment in Mishna Cemetery of Chelsea, 232 Fuller St. Everett, MA. Memorial observance will be held at Temple Emmanuel Tudor St. Chelsea following burial. Contributions in his memory may be made to Temple Emmanuel 60 Tudor St. Chelsea, MA. 02150.
