Essie Lillie Melton (95) of Brockton died December 8th in her home under hospice care and surrounded by her family. She was the widow of the late James Arthur Melton Sr.
She was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Best) Bowden. Essie was a radiology aide at the Mass General Hospital. She enjoyed cooking, attending church, making jewelry and gardening.
Essie is survived by 6 sons, James Jr., Michael and Jimmy Melton all of Brockton, Leonard of North Carolina, Napoleon of Boston and Eddie Melton of Taunton, 3 daughters, Geraldine Scott and Cindy Huston both of Brockton and Linda Kingston of Taunton, a sister Dora Mae Bowden of Goldsboro, North Carolina, many grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.
Services to be held in Goldsboro, North Carolina with Burial in Mills Cemetery.
